    Gandhi and my thoughts

Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 03:19 AM CST [Warrior]

This is a post that I put onto one of my Yahoo Groups postings and I wanted to share it with you all...

"I cannot teach you violence, as I do not myself believe in it. I
can only teach you not to bow your heads before any one even at the
cost of your life." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Though Gandhi was a man of peace and non-violence, never bow your head to a tyrent. Hold strong to your ideals of freedom, and unite against oppression. If ever your way is lost in dealing with our situation (Operation Iraqi Freedom) know that ultimatly this is what we are here, to teach the Iraqis to not bow there head but to stand up and revel in freedom, a freedom that they have not had in a long time.

This is what we also have to take into account is that the Iraqis have been oppressed for so long that they do not know anyother way and those that would be the new tyrents will not go gently into that sweet good night.

Though I may have over simplefied it. Stay true to this reasoning, regardless of the political workings of those that are appointed over us. The Iraqis need us, humanity needs us and the ability that we have to protect the freedoms of all humankind.

    In Love and Light,
    Bill

thank you. Now I understand. some of us need short and simple explanations. If only our over educated politicians would use plain simple terms that most of us would understand instead of showing off the fact that they are good at memorizing big complicated words that no one else understands. I am all for higher education, but I have seen a lot of idiots with college degrees. Anyone can memorize something out of a book and pass a test. It takes a real person to actually learn it.

Bill, I do not believe that you would do anything thoughtlessly, and I further believe that people can disagree with me and still be good people. Please come home safely. We desperately need such individuals as you here in the U.S.

from one human to another....Thank you...I have been so confused over my feelings with this war. this was simple, but i know sometimes you don't need pages and pages of words to touch a heart and revel in understanding. all we need is "simple" truth, not political run arounds....thank you for all you do and all you have done. Bless our troops...we love you...

In a situation of infinite complexities, perhaps if everyone understood something this simple...

    MM Bill,
You are so right. I actually understood this from Celia's Symbol song. While we don't go picking fights, if we don't have Soldiers like you, we would not be able to have freedom of speech, freedom of faith and freedom of religion.

I am greatful to you for giving me my freedom, and I am greatful for every Soldier! My husband served 22 years and spent his last year and a half getting things set up in Bagdad. I understand better than most what this war is doing to our Troups.

Let me know if you need anything I can mail you. I will gladly do it.

MP, and thank-you from the bottom of my heart.
